Testosterone Isn’t Just a “Male Hormone”

Women need testosterone, too. Testosterone is produced naturally by the ovaries, adrenal glands, and peripheral tissues, and levels change throughout a woman’s life.

For some women, changes in testosterone may be part of the picture when they experience changes in the following but not limited to: libido, sexual function, muscle strength, energy, and overall well-being.

At Thrive Aesthetics & Wellness, I take a personalized, lab and symptom-guided approach to hormone optimization. Depending on your individual needs and goals, testosterone may be delivered through pellets, topical cream, or injections.

Potential benefits of appropriately optimized testosterone may include but are not limited to:

• Improved sexual desire and sexual function
• Increased arousal and sexual responsiveness
• Improved sexual satisfaction
• Support for lean muscle and physical strength
• Support for healthy body composition
• Support for vitality and overall well-being

Which testosterone delivery method is right for you?

Pellets
Testosterone pellets are placed subcutaneously and provide a gradual release of hormone over time. This can be an appealing option for women who prefer a longer-acting, low-maintenance approach rather than remembering a daily application. Pellets are typically replaced approximately every 3–4 months, depending on the individual.

Testosterone Cream
Topical testosterone allows for daily dosing and individualized adjustments and can be a convenient option for women who prefer a non-invasive delivery method.

Testosterone Injections
Injectable testosterone provides another option for women who prefer an injectable route. Dosing and frequency can be individualized, with appropriate monitoring to help maintain physiologic testosterone levels.

It’s not about choosing the “best” method.

It’s about choosing the right method for you.

At Thrive, I consider your symptoms, medical history, thyroid and vitamin status, hormone levels, SHBG, personal goals, lifestyle, and treatment preferences when determining whether testosterone therapy is appropriate and which delivery method may be the best fit.

And because more testosterone isn’t necessarily better, ongoing monitoring is an important part of hormone therapy.

The goal isn’t simply to give you testosterone. The goal is personalized hormone optimization designed around you.

If you’ve noticed changes in libido, sexual function, strength, energy, or how you feel in your body, let’s talk about whether hormone optimization may be appropriate for you.
